Dulux Academy – The Mews

The Dulux Academy has extended its exterior training offering with a new facility at its flagship site in Slough. The Mews is an outdoor training space that simulates the real-life conditions that decorators will experience on the job, better preparing them for exterior work.

The Dulux Academy is the home of painting and decorating excellence and is dedicated to keeping abreast of the latest skill demands of professionals and ensuring it is up to date on the best-practice techniques and work processes. In response to the growing demand for exterior painting and spray technique courses, the Dulux Academy has opened a new facility at its Slough HQ called The Mews.

The outdoor training space features a row of small house exteriors that enable decorators to put the theory into practice under real-life conditions, so they are better prepared to carry out work to the highest standard once on site.

The Mews will be used for a range of exterior painting courses that are all run by the Dulux Academy’s expert trainers, including the new Stage 3 uPVC Spray course. Run by Associate Trainer James Wildish, who specialises in uPVC spraying, Stage 3 uPVC Spray is a two-day course that helps decorators unlock new opportunities for their business by learning expert techniques, safety tips and how to achieve a flawless and lasting finish.

Vickie Mather, Dulux Academy Lead, said: “The Mews is an exciting new offering from Dulux Academy that will provide tradespeople with a chance to put their newfound skills to the test under realistic conditions. We have named it The Mews – which stands for Modern Exteriors With Spray – to reflect the row of small houses that make up the facility and make a nod to the royal connection with Berkshire, where it is based. The Mews even includes a garden area with cladding, fences, walls and upcycled furniture that will be used for exterior training.”
